Perky holiday cider

Thanksgiving day at my house is always kicked off with some hot holiday cider from a cherished recipe handed down through the family from Nana.  The concoction would not be the same without the process of percolation – filtering of a liquid (in this case, the fruit juices) though a porous filter in the pot (filled with spices).  To achieve the optimal effect for this drink, the percolation process also includes heating the liquid to a boil with an old-fashioned percolator.   Our percolator is used only during the holidays for this bursting flavor-filled boiling drink.  Be sure to use mugs with a handle!  The heavily splashed recipe and it’s updated version is shared below:
