Bone broth is the latest, new superfood. What is it and why is everyone so hyped about it? Bone broth, the simmering stock of bones, has been consumed around the world daily for centuries. However, recently it has been rediscovered and revered as the “new superfood” due to the revelation that its contents yield numerous significant health benefits.
Bone broth is rich in protein (you know I like that), collagen, gelatin, glucosamine, chondroitin, and key minerals frequently not found in our diets. As I discussed in my previous post about protein, the Power of Protein, our bodies need it to function properly. Collagen and gelatin contain many of the essential amino acids required in our diets for building connective tissues and the lining of our intestinal tract. Glucosamine and chondroitin support joint health and comfort, bone and skin health. Other key minerals included aide in digestive health, circulation and nerve functioning and bone density.
With all of these significant benefits, it’s no wonder that professional athletes, actors, and other celebrities are drinking it up! I’m thinking I’ll jump on the bandwagon.
